Homebush Bay is located on the South Bank of the Parramatta River, in the area inner-west of Sydney, NSW, Australia. This area was established in the early 1800's, only to be then the centre of heavy industry work and facilities. On numerous occasions, waste material and various chemicals were disposed of through the main water source of the Parramatta River.
As a means of regenerating the land, the Bicentennial Park was constructed in 1980, including a range of different programs that aimed to create a better environment and keep the flora and fauna protected and growing healthily in the future years. In present times, this area is surrounded by housing, the Olympic Park Show-Grounds, roads and industries. All these factors can have a significant affect on the functioning elements of the environment. |
