Humans have had quite a significant impact on many environments, especially the Mangrove ecosystem that was visited in the Homebush Bay area. From the early times, European settlement has had a great influence on many features of the environment. As a result of land clearing, many species habitats have been destroyed, causing a decrease in numbers of specific organisms, as they have no place to live and thrive. Besides this, the building and agricultural advancements have also changed the dynamics of the environment. As more factories and industries were created, the potential for pollution and waste to be dumped into the Parramatta River increased. This resulted in the contamination of water and making marine animals become toxic.
There have been a number of introduced species in this particular area. Whilst some may be beneficial, others have created a negative impact as it has caused a displacement to the native species, and has even brought over different types of diseases that are threatening to the organisms that were already found in the environment.
Human impacts can however be both positive and negative. Whilst in previous times, human activity has caused different types of problems for the mangrove ecosystem, the council and public nowadays have strived to implement strategies and regulations that need to be followed so that it benefits the environment in as many ways as possible.
